Farming game from Square Enix, Harvestella

When it comes to farming game and life simulation, most people will think of Story of Season (Harvest moon) and Rune Factory. Miruku did some research and found the list of best-ranked farming game according to TheGamer.

Let’s put Stardew Valley aside for a second. I know everyone loves Stardew Valley but what caught my attention from the the list is the last rank, Rune Factory 4 Special.

In 2006, Marvelous released Rune Factory for the Nintendo DS. Since then, developers have begun to incorporate more creativity into farming games. Rune Factory actually did an excellent job by adding fantasy elements such as dungeon crawling, beating monsters, and leveling up skills inside the game.

But wait a sec… We are not going to review Rune Factory. I just want to let you know that Square Enix did the same thing. I mean, Square Enix developed a farming game. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, as many of us might have wished for a farming game with some design and feel of a final fantasy many years ago. There you go, Square Enix granted your wish. Harvestella, it’s like a farming game but also a hero save the world game. In essence, it’s like Rune Factory but in a Final Fantasy-esque style.

Don’t mind me, Let the trailer speak.

Harvestella’s Trailer from Square Enix

So what do you think about the game from the trailer? To me, the game is more about saving the world and fighting monsters while I still cannot figure out how the developer going to balance the game between farming and bashing monsters because for sure, I will forget to take care of my crop while the combat is just so much engaging. For more details, you can check Square Enix Official Website. Anyway, Harvestella will be released to the Nintendo Switch and Steam on 4 November this year.
